Store Huddle vs Easyteam for Shopify stores

The most installed app in the category, and for most stores the answer is not either-or.

Easyteam is a staff management platform built around Shopify POS: clocking in, scheduling, commissions, PTO and payroll. Store Huddle is a coordination workspace built around orders and stock. Both appear under Staff notifications and both do checklists, but they answer different questions. Easyteam answers who worked and what they are owed. Store Huddle answers what needs doing now.

What Easyteam is built around

Easyteam has been on the App Store since 2019, carries a Built for Shopify badge and won a 2026 Shopify Build Award. It is the most reviewed app in this category by a wide margin, and that maturity shows in the parts that are hardest to get right: labour compliance, break policies, tax filing, commission calculation.

Its centre of gravity is the shift. Staff clock in from the POS or a phone, hours flow into timesheets, timesheets flow into payroll, and managers look at labour cost against sales per location. Everything else in the product hangs off that spine.

That makes it a retail tool first. If your staff stand at a till, Easyteam is built for the exact shape of your day, and it is listed under Retail as well as Staff notifications for that reason.

Where the two overlap

The overlap is real but narrower than the category listing suggests.

  • Checklists and task assignment. Both do them. Easyteam's are tied to the shift, such as opening and closing routines run from the POS.
  • Staff notifications. Both send them. Easyteam covers order creation, fraud alerts and task assignments.
  • Staff permissions. Both scope what people see, though on different axes: Easyteam by location and role, Store Huddle by room and category.

Neither column is a score. The table is trying to establish which question the app was shaped to answer, because that is what decides whether you fight it every week or never think about it.

Choose Easyteam if

  • You have hourly staff who clock in, and hours have to become pay.
  • You run Shopify POS in a physical shop. This is Easyteam's home ground and Store Huddle does not go there.
  • You need commissions, PTO tracking or labour compliance. These are genuinely hard and Easyteam has years of work in them.
  • Your coordination problem is staffing levels rather than order handling.

Choose Store Huddle if

  • Your team is ecommerce rather than shop floor, and nobody clocks in.
  • The recurring failure is an order or a stockout falling between people, not a shift going uncovered.
  • You need the conversation and the order in the same place, so nobody is describing order 1024 in one window while looking at it in another.
  • You want history: what was decided about this supplier, and when.

Running both

These are not competing purchases for most stores. A shop with hourly staff and an ecommerce operation has two different coordination problems, and the tools that solve them well are shaped differently.

If you are choosing one because the budget only stretches to one, choose on which failure costs more this quarter. Unpaid or miscounted hours is a legal and trust problem. A dropped order is a refund and a review. Both are real, and only you know which one is happening more often.

Common questions

Is Easyteam a competitor to Store Huddle?

Only partially. Both do checklists and staff notifications, but Easyteam is built around the shift and payroll, and Store Huddle is built around orders and stock. Many stores have a use for both.

Does Store Huddle do time tracking or payroll?

No. There is no time clock, no timesheet and no payroll. If you need hours to become pay, you need a tool built for that, and Easyteam is the most established one in this category.

Does Easyteam have team chat?

It is not a messaging product. It covers staff notifications and task assignment rather than rooms, threads and direct messages.

We use Shopify POS. Does Store Huddle work there?

Store Huddle runs inside Shopify admin. For staff working at a till, a POS-native tool fits the day better.
